Biographical-Notes

Born in Iasi, painter Nicolai Constantin, graduated from “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest and become a member of the Union of Plastic Artists in Romania.

Going through all the all the hierarchical steps of the university Nicolai Constantin became a university professor in Iasi and afterwards in Bucharest. The painter registered some monumental works of art in Romania, in Iasi and Vaslui (grafitto and mosaics), several albums of art, works of art that are displayed in many museums in Romania, such as National Art Museum in Bucharest and Sibiu famous Brukenthal (founded in 1790), as well as collections of art that are found in approximately 19 countries.

For his prodigious artistic activity the painter has received over 15 national and international awards. He organized hundreds of personal and group exhibitions in Romania and many other countries.

A true fountain of inspiration is the great national folkloristic treasury, a reach collection of artistic gems, artistically labored in his laboratory of sensitive soul, and given then to the world.

A true master of his exceptional pencil, the painter had succeeded in leaving behind so much of masterpieces of color harmony, so various and so original. Thus, Nicolai Constantin is one of the most valuable “painters of vivid colors” in the contemporary Romanian art. His paintings are true “musical colored poems”. His pictorial vision is the most genuine sensitivity of Romanian chromatics.

Following the Romania's landscape evolution, Niculai Constantin musicality brings a certain color, a rare taste of a sense of enjoyment from ever-springing fountain from his genius soul. Working with this coordinates the painter created the most authentic paintings: landscape, still life, portrait and a variety of compositions with specific themes.

The artist includes in his “palmares” also specific national creation. A special attention is given to the Romanian “hora” dances, giving by the magic of color and light, twinned in the magic of movement, the artist reveals himself in the spirit of dance and its everlasting archaic, ritual and folkloristic. Traditions, songs, games, costumes, many dancers, musicians included the rhythm all the elements into his paintings.

The Art of Nicolai Constantin is deeply rooted in people's life, always showing the soul of the primary requirements. The Music and movements that the artist hears, sees and feels, stimulates his fantasy of suggestive images in plastic colors. Through dance, the artist suggests various statuses, from gracious steps to the wild, unleashed in intensity of mixed emotions of colored palettes, just to play large movements, the myth of the dance, a dream and reality. Thus the artist manages to transfigure optical motion vision, offering a full plastic scale of diversity and beauty, of authentic landscape of popular dance with color.

The painter Nicolai Constantin remains a creator of arts' paradise in which poetry and musicality are harmonized in most perfect colors, thus filling the soul with successful symphonies accords.
